Princess cut diamond

The beautiful Princess sanding is the second most used form of sanding right after the brilliant sanding. The Princess cut stone has sharp corners and a square shape. Due to its shape, its brilliance does not rise to the level of a round brilliant, but its facets are designed in such a way that they give as much brilliance as possible to a square diamond. The Princess cut was developed in 1970 and is a relatively new form of diamond cut. A princess-cut stone is more affordable than a round brilliant, because less material is wasted from a square-shaped raw stone during grinding. A square princess cut stone is more valuable and also more desirable than a rectangular stone.

The brilliance of a princess-cut diamond

It is difficult to predict the brilliance of the Princess cut stone and therefore giving the correct dimensions on paper is challenging. All stones other than brilliant cut are called fancy cut stones. The splendor of fancy cut stones does not always rise to the level of a brilliant cut stone. However, high-quality cut Princess stones are seen to have a very high shine and fire for a fancy-cut stone.

The four factors that affect the value of a diamond are called the 4Cs, i.e. cut (cutting), Carat (weight), color (color) and clarity (purity). Of these, the diamond's beauty and value are most affected by the quality of the diamond's cut. Quality does not mean the form of grinding, but the proportions and symmetry of the diamond grinding, as well as how carefully the grinding and polishing work has been done. The aim is to create a perfect interaction with light with the help of the grinding of the diamond, i.e. the bevels and sets of bevels ground into it. When a diamond has optimal dimensions, the light directed at it is reflected back through the largest chamfer at the top of the stone, i.e. the table, and does not escape from the sides or bottom.
