Kalevala
Kalevala Haliko wedding rings necklace, silver, Kalevala Originals
This Kalevala This jewellery design dates back to the 1100s. The filigree bead ribbon was part of a valuable treasure found in Joensuu, Halikko, together with three silver bangles. The treasure had been hidden in a clay pot with a crude design, around 800 years ago, when Finland became a Christian nation. The hider could have been a priest who wanted to save the precious stones from the pagan Finns, or it could just as easily have been church robbers who hid their loot - no one knows. In any case, the treasure cache tells of troubled times, a period of upheaval that ushered in a new trend in Finland. Width 24 mm, length 70 cm.
