Silver Kalevala Ring from Perniö

The wide shank of the ring is decorated with embossed and stamped patterns. The stamped patterns repeat a zigzag pattern. It is one of the oldest forms of decoration found around the world. In Egypt, it has symbolized water. Ancient water symbols represent the birth of life. The model of the ring dates back to the 1100s in the village of Yliskylä in Perniö.
